N Y F W

What to pack for fashion week?????   Well let me start off by saying that attending NYFW has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl.   Last year was my first year…and I remember my first show so vividly.  I was trying so hard to hold back tears.  It was such a pinch me, surreal moment and I felt so proud to be there.   This year was just as amazing but I did feel more relaxed (in a good way).  I’ll admit…Last year I was a fashion week rookie and pretended I knew what I was doing.  But by the second runway show I was asking security how I could make my way to the front row.  And yay…it worked.  I’m definitely in my element when in NYC… especially for fashion week.  I’m so thankful for my parents to watch our kids so my husband Jeff (aka…”Tech Jeff”) could join me again this year!   Our goal for Fashion week 2017 was to be more present and slow down the pace.  I’ll admit that is pretty hard to do with back to back meetings, shows, 20 min cab rides…and a girls gotta eat and shop too.   But even if it was just for a 1/2 hour a day…Jeff and I stopped for a coffee or martini and just chilled-out for a sec.  My husband is also my photographer so it made shooting in the city more flexible.  (we only argued 4 times and almost got ran over by a crazy cab driver twice…lol & yikes).

This is what I wore on Day 1 for NYFW.  I wanted to dress edgier than my normal day to day…but still keep true to my style.  This top was pretty online…but then when I received it in the mail I was unsure.  It didn’t thrill me on the hanger.  But wait!  Once I put it on…I was so surprised at how it came to life.  The crotchet detailing is stunning!  I love so many details about this top.  So I guess what I’m trying to say is…you will most likely love to top even more once you try it on. (This top is available here, here and here)   I paired it over these Pleather high-waisted shorts.  I bought these from Zara about 3 years ago.  They look so real, great quality and look expensive.  But if I remember correctly I got them for under $40??  I’m linking a similar pair of shorts here.   And BTW these shoes get the gold metal award!  I wore them almost every day in NY.  They are not only super stylish & cute…but they are very comfy.  My only negative is it takes so long to put them on. (pretty annoying).  But once you’re laced up…enjoy!!   I will be wearing these a lot this Fall…
