If you have been following me recently then you know I have been trying harder to be more mindful and present in all that I do.  Sometimes in order to do that you have to figure out ways to avoid the small stresses of every day.  Making sure that we pay attention to our well-being as well as the ones we love is so important. It’s much easier to disconnect and be there for people when we are in a good mental and emotional state. One of the things I think on some level we all deal with on a daily basis is stress. Investing time in ourselves even in small ways is so important.  I feel like I can be a better wife, mother, and friend when I am not feeling stressed out or anxious about something. I try to stay organized with my daily routine, and I try to do small things through out the day to help along the way. So I wanted to share 5 ways to de-stress that are so easy and so manageable. W R I T E   I N   A   J O U R N A L 

I have a Gratitude Journal that I try and write in every day. It helps me slow down and appreciate everything that is good in my life. It allows me to capture the small moments and wins that may go unnoticed. Getting your thoughts down on paper no matter what they are has always been so therapeutic to me.  When I’m having a hard day or feeling down I love using my gratitude journal as a reminder of all the good.  This helps me so much.  A lot of the worries begin to fade.  And, it’s a great reminder to keep perspective and only focus on the positive and to move forward and leave the days stresses behind where they belong. 


D R I N K   P E P P E R M I N T   T E A 

Ok, this may seem small but honestly it is one of my favorite things to do. It may be mixed with a little nostalgia too which helps but there is something about tea that just feels good. Good for my body and my mind and it just gives me this instant cozy feeling. Theres nothing I love more than curling up with a cup of peppermint tea in my favorite pajamas, slippers and a super soft blanket and to write in my journal. Even if it’s just 5 minutes I am taking for myself in a quiet space it really makes an enormous difference to me and to my mood and just allows me to de-stress a little. 


S K I N   C A R E

I am a big believer in skin care and now self-care.  A face mask, a mani-pedi, etc.   I make a conscious effort to take time to do little things like this for myself. It is important. Plus having glowing skin or pretty nails is such an added bonus. Once the kids are in bed and the work is done, I hide in my bathroom for 20 minutes or so…and will get in cozies, wash my face, put on the mask and relax before heading down to watch TV with the hubs. 


L I G H T   A   C A N D L E

Lighting a candle is one of my favorite things to do. They are just so soothing and instantly help to relax me. I also love to light candles when I have company over!  It creates such a cozy feel and I love how it makes your home smell nice.  One of my favorite candles to use is the Capri Blue Volcano candle. Not only are they in the most beautiful containers but they smell SO GOOD!  I have a few that are in a really pretty mercury glass and they are the perfect accent pieces for a coffee table or mantle. Volcano is one of my favorite scents from the Capri Blue line and it comes in so many other forms like, Volcano Dry Body Oil, Lotions, Diffuser Oils to Volcano Bar Soap. I highly recommend checking them out if you haven’t, they are sure to have the perfect decorative jar that would go great in your home and have your next go to scent!  

Keep forever TIP:  Here are some ideas for your candle containers once the candle is all used up.  Use it to store: loose change, cotton balls, q-tips, buttons, lip sticks, matches, candy, jewelry, paper clips, etc. etc.  

T A K E   A   B A T H 

We are all so busy so I know this one is hard to do more than maybe once a week but…if you can carve out the time it is so worth it!  Light the candle, pour the wine, add the bubbles. I also love turning on my Pandora station to YOGA radio. The music helps convert my little bathroom into a SPA.  Even just a quick 20 minute soak is a game changer. I bought a tray that sits across the tub and it hold my book, candle and a glass of wine. Capri Blue also has a Body Wash and Body Scrub in the Volcano Scent I love so much! It feels so luxurious!

So basically…candles make everything better…lol.   If you are having a bad day or feel like you need a time out to focus on yourself and to rejuvenate then do it! It’s so important to remember self care or as we like to call it “me time”.  When I take time for myself it allows me to be less stressed and in return a better mom, wife, daughter, sister and friend.
