GOOD HAIR DAYS ARE THE BEST DAYS

Today has been the most gorgeous day here in San Diego. After all the rainy days we’ve had everything is so green and the flowers are so beautiful all over town. This is such a pretty city. You should definitely visit if you are able.  Stay tuned for a vacation recommendation coming to the blog soon.  Anyhow… I have been getting a ton of questions about my hair since I cut it and a lot of you want to know what I have been using and how I style it. So I am here to spill my not so secret, secrets!

Shampoo and Conditioner

I recently tried this Rose Water Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner for the first time.  It smells so good! It left my hair shiny and soft. My daughter really loves the shampoo too and really likes the bottle. I like the easy pump dispenser that it comes with. Makes using the product in the shower much easier. The other Shampoo and Conditioner is the Ever Pure Rosemary Moisture set from L’Oréal. I’ve been using the shampoo for years and years. This one leaves your hair extra soft and it really helps with detangling. Its a must try!

Styling Products

I’ve been using these products for years!  The Root Pump Plus works well with damp hair. I apply it to the root when wet but be careful not to use too much. You’ll notice a big difference in how much volume is at your roots after blowing dry and using this product. I highly recommend it.

I’ve tried many different types of hairspray products and Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play is by far one of my favorites! This product definitely keep my curls lasting a lot longer. What I typically do after I curl my hair with a curling iron is immediately spray this product on each curled section to cool it down and to give it instant hold. Just know that this is not a flexible hairspray so your hair does actually harden but once I brush it out my hair will be soft again and the spray still holds my shape.

Dry Shampoo

I wanted to find two affordable products for dry shampoo since I tend to go through it rather quickly. First I tried Clean freak by Not Your Mother’s.  My first thought was that it smells good. For my first time trying it I will say that it did work well…especially on my dark hair.  There was no white residue. It definitely gives your hair a clean full look which is what we are going for! The next product I tried is Batiste. To be honest I think I started using this product in college.  Since it’s been so long since I used this product I wanted to give it another try. It’s definitely on the affordable side which is really great. However, I’m not a huge fan of the smell.  It would be great in a pinch, however would probably prefer other products to this one given the choice.

Styling Tools

There are so many great styling tools out there today. The options are endless. I have always loved Hot Tools and started using their tools back in college. They are a little more expensive than your traditional box store options. But worth it.  I got these ones at Walmart for a great price. I cant remember one ever breaking on me. They just last forever. My hair can be really picky too when it comes to heating tools. I don’t know what it is about the rainbow metal series but they are magic.  My hair holds curl so well with these irons. I recommend the 1 inch barrel and the taper tool.

Styling Tips

  • When using the curling iron start at the ends leaving 1-2 inches of hair out at the ends.  This will give you a more messy beach wave look.
  • After curling each strand…add hair spray immediately.  This cools down the hair and helps retain the curl.
  • After styling is done…brush out your hair.  Flip hair upside down and give it one last spray.
  • Condition your roots every few days. This can help with the roots being weighed down and helps when trying to achieve maximum volume.

Good hair days are the best! I hope these products and tips help you have more of them!

Talk to you soon!

xx,

P.s. A big thank you to Walmart for partnering on this post! Everything I share, as always, are my own thoughts and opinions.
