THE LODGE TORREY PINES. HOME AWAY FROM HOME

THE LODGE AT TORREY PINES

The Lodge Torrey Pines is one of our favorite places to stay in SD!  We call it our home away from home.  The views are amazing.  Everyone there is so warm and welcoming.  Bill Gross is the general manager there, and if you see him please tell him I say hello!  We had the best time talking with him during our stay.  The photo you see above if from our rooms balcony.  Our room had french doors that swung all the way open and back so you had this amazing open, picture frame view.  I’m sharing a lot more details below…but wanted to share our favorite highlights first.

WHERE TO EAT

We love to eat at the “The Grill” and the “A.R. Valentien”!  Both had amazing service and the food is delicious.  The Grill is their more casual dining option which is located right next to the golf course.  I highly recommend sitting outside if the weather permits! They also have outdoor heaters if it’s on the chilly side.   The A.R. Valentien is their more formal restaurant.  It is located right off of the lobby in the lodge.  We sat outside on their deck overlooking the pool area.  Both dining options are kid friendly and have a great selection too.  My personal recommendation is the “Drug store Burger”.   You can see more details about these two restaurants here.

ACTIVITIES

There is a full spa, pool, jacuzzi, pool room/library,  etc.  If you’re a golfer this place will be a dream.  One of our favorites is to visit Torrey Pines State Beach.  You can either park at the bottom and hike up…or we like to park at the top and hike to see the amazing views.  Hopefully you catch the hike on a clear day…you will love it!   Downtown La Jolla is also very close by.  I would head out to Prospect Ave to see all the shops, restaurants, art galleries and more.  And on your way into town you can stop by the “Gliderport“.  This is such a unique place to visit.   Also visit the Birch Aquarium…it’s so fun for the kids to learn about all the marine life.   Also the views are amazing from there.

BALCONY VIEWS

This is the Robe Life.  I’ll be honest.  It was hard to motivate off of the balcony.  The rooms are also fully stocked with coffee and teas.   The kids also joined in on the views…and enjoyed their own cup of hot cocoa with pjs.

POOL AND JACUZZI

What if I told you that if you dunked your head underwater at the Lodge Torrey Pines swimming pool,  you would hear classical music??  Well it’s true!  Take a relaxing dip with Beethoven and Mozart in this heated pool.

POOL ROOM, LIBRARY & OUTDOOR FUN

FIREPLACE OVEN

I’m obsessed with this amazing fireplace oven!  It’s such a unique feature at the Lodge Torrey Pines.  On the other side you’ll find a row of rocking chairs facing a crackling, warm fire.  And on this side you’ll find a gorgeous oven cooking the most delicious tasting food!  I love that this is the oven that cooks some of the food for the restaurants on property.  (These images were actually taken from our stay last year…since I wasn’t able to catch the chef in action this trip.)

“Happy Trails”

…and it’s all about the details.

This was so cute! At the Lodge they had this cute little DIY trail mix making station where you could grab a bag and make your very own trail mix snack.

The Lodge Torrey Pines is also an AMAZING place to stay around the Holidays!

We’re so grateful we also had the opportunity to stay there to see all the beautiful holiday decor!  The minute you step into the lobby you can smell the Christmas tree and you instantly feel like you are home.  There is something about the lobby that is so inviting, warm and cozy.  It’s the perfect place to grab a drink and relax by the fireplace.

If you are ever in the San Diego area I highly recommend staying at The Lodge Torrey Pines!  …or even stopping by for drinks, happy hour or dinner.  Also don’t forget that they have a full service SPA…so you could do your own staycation, girls trip, mini- getaway, etc.

Thank you so much for reading and hope you have a great day!

xx,

P.S.  A big thank you to The Lodge Torrey Pines for helping us make memories we will never forget!
